October Is Here!

It's hard to believe that October is here with the 100+ temperatures we are experiencing. Although, next week it should cool down - it will be in the 90's.  However, the warm temps won't keep us from reading fun October books. Here are some of the activities we will be doing this month that go along with read aloud books.

After reading Even Monsters Need Haircuts, we sort letters by upper and lowercase letters.

We also sort cards by letters and words.  I love to leave these up during center time.  The students always find their way to them and play school.  What a great way to keep them learning!

We also read The Monster Who Lost His Mean.  Such a great story showing how a character changes from the beginning of a story to the end.  The kids love the pictures throughout the book.  After we finish reading, we sort words by the number of letters in the word.

These are just a few activities that go along with read aloud books that are perfect for October.

My latest product has these and many more activities plus lesson plans for 5 days for each book. The lessons include activities prior to reading the books as well as after. The books used in these lessons are: Scaredy-cat, Splat! by Rob Scotton, Room on a Broom by Julia Donaldson, Even Monsters Need Haircuts by Matthew McElligott and The Monster Who Lost His Mean by Tiffany Strelitz Haber. Hope everyone has a great October!
