4 January Math Activities Your Students Will Love

When coming back from the long break, students will need time to adjust to the routine again. January is a great time to review concepts from the first semester before adding new skills. When planning activities for the students to work on, I love these fun, easy prep activities.

1. Graphing

Students will practice sorting, counting as well as scissors and gluing skills. These no prep worksheets make an easy center activity, morning work or homework.

2. BOOM Cards
I love using BOOM Cards, digital task cards, during center time. This center is always a student favorite as it has students on a computer or tablet to complete the center. Students will click on the audio icon to hear the number and then select the number on the puzzle. When correct, a piece of the mystery picture will appear. There are 2 puzzles in each set.

3. Write the Room
When students return to the classroom after a long break, movement throughout the day is important. This is activity is a great way to get students up and moving around the room while practicing math skills. Students will practice counting sets, ten frames, tally marks and base ten units and write the number on a recording sheet. Another easy prep activity for center time.

4. Math Puzzles
Number sequencing is an important skill for young learners to master. These easy prep math puzzles are easy to differentiate for all levels of math learners in your class. These puzzles include addition, subtraction, counting dice, tally marks, counting by 1s and 10s and sequencing by size. I love that students are completing the same task but are working different skills.

You can find all these January Math Activities HERE. I hope these activities help make your January a little easier.
