Book Talk Linky Party

I am participating in a book talk linky party hosted by Deanna Jump! This is a fabulous way to find new books to use in the classroom.

One of my favorite things to do in the classroom is read aloud to the class.  I love to be animated and silly and find the students love this as much as I do.   Afterwards, I always find them in the reading center reading the book to each other with the same animation.  It is so fun to watch!

One of my favorite books is Muncha! Muncha! Muncha! by Candace Fleming.

The students love that the bunnies outsmart Mr. McGreely each night.  They also love the sound effects the author provides.  While reading, I like to change my voice to a deep, thundering "Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!" and a quiet, whisper voice for "tippy, tippy, tippy, pat."  The students love to join in and use the same voice as it is repeated throughout the book.

I also share with my students that I have a garden and bunnies also live in my yard.  I have tried to outsmart them as well and end up like Mr. McGreely and have nothing but nubs left in my garden the next morning.  I ask the students what I should do to keep them out.  It is quite funny to hear their suggestions!
